Larger than normal pocket watch weighing over half a pound. Using the hot program on the Deus this watch was six inches down in very dark soil so the gold color really stood out in the hole. A watch this size and made of gold? But as I brushed the dirt away it revealed wear and brass underneath. Still a different find. Peace dollar not dug and for size only. Other finds including a draped bust LC.

awesome finds, hey that watch is still an awesome find, it looked to have been well made in its day. I would love to find a pocket watch but no luck so far. those other relics are not slouches either

Congratulations on the ornate watch recovery! :occasion14:

Congratulations. Great finds.

That's huge!!! Can you see any maker's marks?

No makers mark yet, that is most likely way inside. I have not been able to open it any further. I am considering a lite oil to hopefully loosen it up a bit.

That's a nice one still has some good décor to it. Those other finds are lookin pretty sweet too. Happy Holidays Tommy

Very interesting watch, and looks kinda’ early too... is it a Verge Fusee perhaps?
Curiously, note the Chinese characters where the numbers would be!, which goes along with the storks etched on the back. Pretty cool.

Thanks Ben, so far nothing researching this watch. Good job noticing the Chinese numbers, also to the inside of them are Roman numerals which have more wear to them. I also think it’s an early one as well. Thanks for the info, I’ll research Verge Fusee.

Very Nice!

dang that's a huge watch. Flavor Flav would be proud

I don't think it is a fusee but probably a parachute escapement key wind key set between 1840 and 1860 ( from case design and hand mountings) Please get it open and get us a look at the movement and the markings inside both case backs. It should have another under this outside one. Cool find It looks like it did not see much moisture. You may be in luck with the movement. Looking at the pics further, that movement may tip out on a hinge from the front :)
