Had a good time there on Saturday. Found a bunch of clad, no old coins. One other person was there, we talked, he didn't find anything either. Saw another snowy owl and Arctic buntings visiting for the winter. I also avoided the cylinder with little aluminum fins on it, think it was from a weathervane.
However, I saw this really neat relic which I left there. It was a huge piece of ships timber about 3' long. It was 12" square. I thought, boy, that would be a great place to sit down! I looked closer are there were THREE one inch long square brass (or copper) spike tips sticking 2" out of the timber, with the heads imbedded in the other side.
I decided not to sit. Anybody seen anything like this before? I think from a ship, but maybe a pier?
