UPDATE: Hubby and the boys just arrived home from their Boy Scout Camping adventure in the rain and cold! I'm so proud of them!

Anyways, I will be taking pics here as soon as I post this and should have them up by 1pm.... the spoon is in great condition and it really has the date, 1928, stamped on the back. I'll take a pic of that too!

The button is cool.....need to run under water to get the dirt off and then take pics....

When I posted...title will be PICS ARE HERE!!! :)
Thanks for looking,
Annmarie
****************

Sorry, I won't have pics until Sunday (tomorrow) when they return from their Boy Scout Camping. They are camping out in Chesapeake and it's been raining the whole weekend so far.

Called hubby to see how they were fairing and how the boys were doing. He said all was well!

Then he tells me he found a 194? Merc (think he said 44), a '57 Rosie, lots of wheaties, another button (can't wait to see that...he found a really nice button last time they were there) and he found a silver spoon. He says a date is on it: 1928. Now, I want to see that....I'm so excited for tomorrow so I can see these and take some pics to show ya'll.

But I had to post now....cause I can! :tongue3: ;D

So, check back tomorrow after 2 pm for photos....

Sorry, but I simply cannot miss church services in order to see photos of these metal detecting discoveries.

Hell, I took the Sunday off from my church job just to see these photos. :-\

Ok....pics taken, downloaded and I have to edit to fit on here, so it will be just a bit more. That spoon is beautiful (to me anyways!) and the button, while I was getting off the dirt, and was able to start reading some lettering, had hubby look it up...that info will be posted too...ok...gotta' go edit.....back in a few...

PS: Hope the anticipation is worth it...I know it was for me...but he's my hubby! :)

Hubby said where they were camping, alot of marsh land and the sea water comes in....doesn't make silver look good, does it? He said the soil is real black too!

Does anyone think, if I got some cleaning stuff to clean silverware, it would hurt the spoon, or should I just leave it as is?

It's funny, I am learning to can and recently hubby has been finding mason jar lids, but this weekend he found the jar and the lid...might be an omen I should be canning! LOL

Gonna' see if I can locate any more info on Wadham, Coe & Co in the newspaper archives...if I can, will post. Researching a found item is always fun and gives the item a more prized find when you can put it in history and read about it!

Told hubby when they arrived home, "Wow, you did good! Some good hunting over there." He said he worked his butt off to find what he did, it was not easy finding. (I looked, his butt was still there! :tongue3:)

Thanks for looking!
Annmarie

Wow :o Anne, Looks like hubby and boys had a great trip...it's all good . Definitely worth waiting for these picts....really like that button and the silver spoon. Let us know what you find out in research on the spoon. Congrats to hubby and boys....great weekend for sure. :icon_sunny:

:sign10: :D :D :D :D :D :D :D, sorry I lost it when I read that one....that was good Annmarie..HH

Well worth the wait for the pictures, but I didn't get a wink of sleep in anticipation!

I don't think it would hurt to clean the spoon!
