Like to say howdy to everyone. Just a little background. I started detecting about 18 years ago when I would borrow a White's 5000D, I think it was, from my grandpaw and go with one of my buddies. We never found anything significant but a little bit of silver coins and lots of clad. Kinda fell by the wayside until just recently. My grandpaw passed away back in June of this year and I inherited his Minelab Explorer XS and a three Whites Spectrum XLTs. Went hunting a little bit over the summer and had same results as years ago. Anther buddy just mentioned to my last week that he had ordered a new Seahunter and I got the in way for a new machine. So, I ordered an Ace 350 just for the heck of it. Took it out yesterday for a test drive at my local school and found 4 clad quarters in about an hour then it got dark. It's really going to take some getting used to the DD coil on the pinpointing. The machine does really hit the targets great. Had my wife follow me with the Spectrum and most reading were the same but it was just easier to pinpoint with the Whites. Oh well, too bad it dead of winter and can't wait til the spring. I ran into a good friend at lunch yesterday and starting talking about detecting. He has never been but owns 70 acres and I asked if there were any old houses on the property and he said a couple. Also, said near his house was an old mining settlement that had not been inhabited in 100+ years that has about 15-20 houses on it. No access roads or even ATV roads to it. He siad that we could walk about 1/2 mile and get to it pretty easily and that I could go up there any time. Can't wait til spring to hit that one. I will report back to you guys with results then.

Take care and hello again to all.

Good to see another Western North Carolinian. I'm not too far from the Cherokee Reservation. HH

Welcome. Those spots sound great to hit.
