J.D.,

Welcome back in full stride, my friend! That 1663 silver coin is a one of a kind. I have never seen one posted from a member in the USA. You have always amazed me with your finds, John.

Get back out there, John, and find the lost Colonial loot! :icon_thumleft:

Re: Howdy all some finds!!

Thanks guys well, my daughter is having a baby today in NJ and my dads still sick sept. is my parents 50th wedding anniversary so in 2 weeks we are supposed to go back out there from aug. 5th -aug 16th i believe.... if we do go back out there.. maybe we could get together then, im hoping to get some detecting in then too...kirk the cool thing about that coin was we had this huge hole the owner thought we had a cash hehe and the nieghbors were all around us helping us dig there turned out to be a huge old culdron about 3 ft. deep the colonial shoe buckle with the holes and the coin were in the side of the hole.... it was finding finding that stuff in front of lots of people the ooo's and ahhhss' were were all over the place hehe...

Re: Howdy all some finds!!

J.D. I'm counting the stars on that bridle shield (?) and it sure looks like thirteen. That little piece is an awsome find in itself!

Re: Howdy all some finds!!

thanks Johnny i love that piece i havent been able to find any info on it, but it sure looks like the shield on the back of a NJ copper except for the stars...

Re: Howdy all some finds!!

YOU may call that "some finds", but I call that a pretty good damn season of hunting!!!!!!
Way to hunt!!!

Re: Howdy all some finds!!

OK...you MUST post close ups of the silver! How often does someone dig a silver coin of that vintage? Unbelievable! :o

Re: Howdy all some finds!!

Pretty cool finds.
I'd love to heard more about that amazing hunt you had in NJ back in April and the fall of 08. You mentioned that you were going to post the story but I must have missed it?

Sorry to hear about your Dad, JD. Hope he will recover soon. As for the coins, you did WELL. Nice old ones at that. WTG on a superb hunt(s). Was wondering where you had been. Our thought and prayers are with you. Ron

Re: Howdy all some finds!!

Mike it took me a while but i found the post i originally did about the site in Oct. 2008

Howdy everyone Oct. was wild month for me, I went to gettysberg and found a wedding ring lost 10 years ago and as reward i got permission to detect a farm 1 mile from gettysberg!!! and got to detect and concentrate on a colonial village long forgotten about in NJ..then we went to chichen -itza and cozumel on a cruise that was just awsome...
I have bags of relics, bullets, jewelry, and coins
but here are some shots of the finds , the best coin finds were a couple NJ coppers, some reales, a few beautiful capped bust coins i put the good coin finds in plastic sleeves... a rare 1840 william henry harrison log cabin button Smiley , 3 pocket watches, 1 colonial and 1 victorian era change purses, a monster supply of buckles!! lol lol... it was just a great time and lots of finds... i cant wait to go back in the spring.
my spring vacation was cut short this yrs the top of the post were the best finds from the spot this time it doesnt include the 200 musket balls and massive amounts of iron found. hopefully i can get back and continue the hunt in time i hope to have and entire website about the hunts when they are over.... jd
