I am thinking of selling or trading my 8” Sand Shark. If I do, the package would include an additional (new) plastic lower rod, and an extra (new) battery tray. The original coil cover would also be included with the unit, which has never been used without it. I would also include eight used PowerGenix AA NiZn rechargeable batteries and two PowerGenix Four-Battery Fast Chargers. The buyer would also get a used Reilly’s Treasured Gold Long Handled Aluminum 6" water scoop. It is a rugged water and wet sand beach scoop. The aluminum bucket has 5/8" diameter holes punched into the sides and the back of the scoop. The bucket of the sand scoop is 6 " in diameter by 11" long. The aluminum 1-1/4" diameter handle is welded to the top of at a 20 degree so you can use your foot on the back of this scoop to push it into the sand. There is a T-top reinforced aluminum bar to give this scoop durability. The handle is 40" long with an over length of 48" long. The handle has a rubber hand grip for comfort. Made in the U.S.A. This scoop weighs 4 pounds. Over the last 19-months, I have recovered over $3,500.00 (by weight/$1700.00oz) in gold and silver jewelry with this machine, but I think I want to upgrade my scoop and move to the 10.5" Sand Shark this spring. If I did sell it, what would be a fair price for the package?

Don't sell it. Instead, find some skinny, short, poor sap on the East Coast of Florida who is always dealing with deep soft and simply give it to him. Hey! It's Christmas! Sure, you can sell it, or you can find it a good home where it will be truly loved. :laughing7:

Always tough to price this stuff.

You are finding all that nice Gold and Silver and now you want to sell it , Are you nuts,Life time warrent.

If you just want a bigger coil on the same type unit. Why not talk to Tesoro and see about a new larger coil. I would think the cost of the larger coil would be less than the difference between what you can get for your current machine and the cost of a new one. However, to answer your original question. Once you sell the unit the lifetime warranty is gone and that is a big part of the value of the unit. I would think you might get half what you paid for the package. good luck and happy hunting with whichever unit you end up with. Papa

Or why not just upgrade to an Excalibur or CTX?? >>just kidding<<

:occasion14:

I agree with Beach Papa and suspect Tesoro would swap out the coil for a fee. Since the warranty never runs out on the original owner (and would not technically transfer to a new owner) there does not seem to be much of an advantage for you spend the extra cash to purchase a new unit and less incentive for a potential buyer to purchase used.

Nice job with the videos!

I know what you guys are saying about switching out the coils. I am still kicking it around, but I think I'm going to buy a new 10.5" even if I keep this machine. I usually sell my machines after 24-months and get new ones.

Like the wall of fame & recognition. Each one has their own name plate and a plaque listing their accomplishments, full view of the big screen TV, and at night they all get sang to and tucked into.......wait... am I saying too much. :laughing7:

Moving from a sand shark to a excal would be a down grade. The excal doesn't dig iron but it still won't go as deep as a sand shark,or find as much Gold as the sand shark.

I am digging targets at 15 inches plus with my excal and the large 15" and 18" coils I had put on and I never waste time diging any iron.....

Some of my detectors end up on the wall even if they don't find anything, like the ATP. But with my health I am unable to waste time swinging a detector that I think isn't up to the task.

I'm learning that depth can be remedied, even with the stock excal coils. So I'm not so sure this is true anymore.

interesting to know, the warranty doesnt follow to the new owner

Actually, Tesoro is famous for repairing their machines no matter how old - or who owns them, free of charge if it is a manufacturing defect of any kind. Many, many times they have repaied machines that the user broke for free. There is no other Metal Detector manufacturer that can match their warranty or repair policy.

Even with a WOT coil, you will not get the depth a Pulse Induction unit can deliver. You'll max out at around 15" with the Excalibur using discrimination no matter what coil you use.

I'll give you a hundred bucks (in nickels of course).

Didnt i already see you post it for sale??? What happened You couldnt sell it? ??? Interesting way to DRUM up more interest..... you are one of a kind Terry.
