I am new & was wondering just how water proof the coils really are, I have the 4x6 & 6x10 dd coils & was wonering if they could be used for shallow water? I have a whites mxt.
Hi Bula. Did you try calling White's in Oregon?

They are both waterproof as is the stock coil. I have had all my coils in the water except the super 12, but I probably will eventually.

My Super 12 filled up with water once. Sent it back to Whites and they sent me a replacement.

Thanks for the info, and I did contact whites & they say that there coils are all water proof so I think I will try it out at a few lake beaches after the Easter weekend.

I've had my stock coil in the creek here on the farm and it did just fine. No leaks whatsoever. I also had the 4x5 DD Shooter in the creek with no problems. They were both well submerged for a good while.

I have used my Eagle II SL in shallow water....no problem.

As with any manufactured product, leaks can happen, but are very rare. If in doubt, smear silicone sealant around the rubber plug where it joins the coil. Normally you never have to worry about this now days. Used to be you had to be careful in dew covered grass.

In all my years with my Whites machines and I think I used every coil that they offered except the new 12 incher I never had a problem with water getting inside of the coils.
