How to start Fossicking?

I am interested in finding gem stones in the wild, but not sure how to learn about them? How did you start? How do I start?

You can go online or you can get state and regional books that will help you find collectable rocks and gems in your area. You may want to check out your local libarary. Not far from you is the Salt Plains WR, where you can look for Selenite crystals. The best time to look is during the warmer parts of the year, preceded by a dry spell. Lots of rain tends to disolve the crystals down. Hope this helps for starters.
