- Is it compulsory to have websites for authors? If so, where to begin from? I’m clueless, please someone provide me with guidance?

is it required an author have a website, most likely not.
would it be helpful to have a website? most likely.
with a website you can control the content and the design to put your work out to the public in a manner which you desire. instead of hoping a site publishes your content in a good manner.
a site would give you the control over aspects of your work a third party site would not.
its potentially more costly, but also potentially tax deductible.
a blog or synopsis of a work could prompt site visitors to purchase.
building a full blown paywall site can be technically challenging but there are organizations which can. assist you in this tasks.
