It will rust up if I stop here. Thinking about gemplers rust converter. What do y’all think?
Just clear parrafin. Walmart jas it but I bought online. What kind of wax?
Have you ever done hot wax? Thanks. Have 1715 iron artifact to protect.
Assuming that's not a personal question, no I haven't. Seems to me that it would be of benefit to slightly warm up the iron as well as the wax so it would kind of flow in to all the nooks and crannies? Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread. Unless maybe it helps with the original question.Have you ever done hot wax?
Watch the video I sent. More to it than that. Be careful.Assuming that's not a personal question, no I haven't. And if it does, then you’ve lost a little more of the relic… You might be right but if you’re wrong, what’s the cost?As I await final determination, i may do nothing if it doesn’t rust up too bad
I use a large canning pot for most of my relics. It has a wire basket in it you can put the relic in and pull it up out of the wax with ease. Works like a charm. For my relics. And if it does, then you’ve lost a little more of the relic… You might be right but if you’re wrong, what’s the cost?
I followed that same video Traveller posted and worked like a charm. Just go to the thrift store and get the pot big enough for the relic and order enough wax. You need way more wax then you think to cover the relic but once you are done and remove the relic, the wax hardens again and you can keep until you find something else worthy.
That cannon ball was a great find btw
