I found a round metal piece and decided to check it out before throwing it away. I soaked it in olive oil for several hours and was able to get small amounts of "crust" off, only to start seeing some writing. Now I really want to get it clean to see what it says! It is about the size of a half dollar. Any suggestions? Thanks

The olive oil soak may take several weeks to loosen crud--be patient.

Nuke some peroxide in a small glass container till it boils, then drop it in.
I use a brass brush if the token is made of brass or copper.
Can you show us a photo?
