HOW TO BUST ONE'S BUTT GRACEFULLY

Well, I'm not really sure that it was gracefully but it was definitely painful. Being somewhat older now, my sense of balance can be a little un-trusting at times but when you throw in the slick wet red clay it can be a really nervous outing. I kind of felt like a Woody Allen movie, I tried to break a big white crystal rock with my tail bone, in fact I am sure I cracked my butt. Actually I have a rather large bruise around the tail bone area but all of my equipment survived with out any damage other than a coating of the red clay. It happened so fast and yet in slow motion and my two grandsons were instantly over helping me up and asking if I was okay. Embarrassed for sure, I knew that I would be paying for it later and sure enough, sitting very long right now is an enduring thing. The most aggravating thing is that it actually warmed up some this evening but I just didn't feel like getting up and down right now. the good thing was the new carharts held up perfectly. my wife asked me "don't you have enough places hurting?" but it is just part of it, things happen to all of us (it is just better when it is someone else).

Ok to make you feel better.
I was helped up off the side walk by two total strangers that saw me fall and stopped to help. I had tripped over a back pack belonging to the person I was helping to load an item into her car at work. I have arthritis in both knees so there is no kneeling to get up. Embarrassed, yes but thankful! Gracefully....No! Lol!

The night before last I pulled a muscle in my neck.... While I was sleeping.. I would shake my head at my accomplishment but it hurts too much.

I briefly used my AT pro shaft like I was on the slopes in Aspen, while sliding about 20 feet down a wet clay ravine on the banks of the Mississippi River in Natchez Ms. It snapped quickly. 3 hours from home, first day of a 4 day group hunt. And no back up detector!
Friends friend had a hack saw, a broom stick and a few small screws.15 mins later... Shttt, If I'd had a can of flat black, I'd been styling too.
Worked well till I ordered one from Garrett. Under $25 /shipped in three days.
Oh and I was graceful like I was sporting Hot Fingers and a beanie.

One nice Fall day last October...

Hope ya heal up quickly! Bruised my tailbone awhile back, was sore for weeks. Maybe I was just slow to heal, sure hope it doesn't bother you very long!

Yep cracked my knee on the only sharp pointy rock in a desert wash out here while prospecting 5 years ago, still to this day it hurts at times, couldn't stand for about 20 minutes thought something broke, but it was just the nerves I guess and of course my wife was there. The day before she told me to be careful while I was out prospecting and I said I am always safe. LOL she isn't going anymore she's bad juju.

Yup, it happens out there. Last year a pheasant exploded into the air beside me. I ended up at the bottom of the hill with an AT Pro that was snapped in half..... I was wearing a hat and nailed my forehead hard enough to tear up, on a protruding chunk of tot lot wooden beam...... I urinated all down the front of my pants one very cold and very windy spring day. :laughing7:

Quite a few yrs ago, before I had felt sole wading shoes, I took a spill on a Pa limestoner. Landed on my tailbone, on a rock. It kinda paralyzed me for a second or two, I couldn't get up. I thought I might drown in 2ft of water. That was scary.

Well, still slow getting around, the wife says that I am sporting a custom blue and purple looking tattoo about the size of a softball. applied some aspercream, took an aleeve and a couple of tylenols and its not as bad. I know by the nature of so many being outdoors, there would be countless others who would understand and some that would even have worst things happen. I am normally very aware of my surroundings and do my best to avoid getting hurt but it only takes one stupid moment (I meant careless) and there you are. I hope that this will be a safer year for you all out there. the bright side of this cold? no mosquitoes or snakes! lol have a wonderful day all

I used to tell my daughter that "God put a crack in your butt, so when mommy and daddy spanked it, that it was already been broken"..............:laughing7:

Its amazing how fast it can happen, and to anyone. I have always felt I had the balance of a mountain goat, but last winter I was scraping ice from the vehicle, took one step and next thing I knew my feet were in air as head hit the ground. I was down before my brain even registered I had slipped! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Several years ago, I got into the bathtub where I was living at the time. I closed the curtain, turned on the shower, turned around to pick up a bar of soap, and the next thing I knew, I was on the floor. My head was resting against the tub, my feet were pointing away from the tub. I had actually flipped as I fell out of the tub and hit my back just at the base of my neck and my shoulders on the floor. I just stayed still for a moment making sure everything was still ok. Then I began laughing. I've always heard of people falling in the bathtub, buy had never heard of someone falling out of one!

Couple years ago, during the winter, I was getting water from an outside well that shoots out of a hillside. I slipped on the ice and fell real hard. I crawled back to my car, while a gent walked around me to get water, I made it to the drivers seat. I made it home as it was an automatic and my wife helped me into the house. After a few cups of coffee, and still not able to walk, I decided it wasn't a bone bruise and went by ambulance to the hospital. Turns out I snapped my femur. They replaced it with a nice shiny hunk of metal, but didn't measure to well as my left leg is now almost 1 1/2 inches shorter than the other leg. Back in business now but does bother me when I been detecting for 6 or 7 hours.

I have to say that I am very blessed, as many times as I have fallen over and thru stuff, had a rung break(third one up) on a tree stand last fall and yet to actually break a bone. have had a lot of bruises and one fractured toe from stepping in a stump hole but bruises usually go away but unfortunately they don't help the ole arthritis any

ouch looter!I take it you didn't go down graceful like a butterfly. Not much you can do with a buttbone, just take it easy and give it time.I hope you have a quick recovery!
