Detector(s) used
XP Deus, Garrett AT Max, Nokta Simplex +, Nokta Legend ,Garrett Pro Pointer , Fisher F Point, Garrett Digging Tool, Gator Razor, Digging Tool, Sampson Digger, Get the Track Hoe! It's a deep one! :)

Metal Detecting
No, it won't.
On my 5x8 I put the plastic bolt in backwards, and since I use the detector as a balance when getting up from a kneeling position, the screw tends to loosen.
I should turn it around, but either laziness or forgetfulness sets in and it remains backwards. When the coil gets so loose that it flops around, I tighten it. There has been no evidence of chatter or interference.
Power lines or ground signal propagation can cause chatter, but not a loose coil retainer bolt.

My coil is not very tight - I can just gently touch the ground and it will level out rks1949.
