Any idea if this is an oldie? Or what kind of knife? Found today in the backyard- old farmland that was developed into a subdivision in 1955.

Double-edged with a central raised line down the center of the blade part on both sides.

I don't know how or if a handle was attached, I don't see any holes for pins, but they might be rusted over.

Sounds like a good knife or a dagger.

I don't think so, since it is double edged- i feel that it would cut my thumb on those corners- why have them on a letter opener? And the blades were sharp, at least at one time, idk if people sharpened letter openers, but I'm not a knife expert so it could be anyway. If it were a boot knife or dagger, any idea on age or what this general shape is called?

Looks like an old throwing knife to me. Could be old, but maybe not that old.

Yes thank you! I believe it may be an Othello Solingen Germany throwing knife.

I can confirm its a throwing knife - I used to be into that sort of thing when I was younger

Found another one today right next to where the other one was! Anyone else ever find a throwing knife spill? Ha!

Many companies made these cheap throwers. Even in new condition they have little to no collector value.

Yep, sometimes after throwing a few inexpensive knives for practice, someone forgot to go pick them up.
Congrats on your finds.

You can still buy these cheap throwing blades from Boker in Germany for less than 15 bucks.

Clean it up and use it for a letter opener. Learn how to throw it and you will have a multi purpose tool. :laughing7:

But how much for your throwing hat? :laughing7:

Well congrats, you are the first person on here who has said something about my pic who knows what it is.

Has lots of people say things either hinting it is me or down right thought it was me.

Folks have called me this since about 92, started in the Army, meet lots of folks, travel to many places, people keep calling you this. Figured when I retired from the Army folks would stop, however the Director who recruited me the time back in 2004 knew me; I did not know him personally, only by reputation for taking care of Operators in the bush. He called me out in front of many people by Oddjob. I was not even there for work and he was not there to hire, but he recruited me, and my first day when I reported in to the main Office this is what everyone heard me referred to.

I do not even look like this cat, easy three times his size and look like groomed bigfoot. It still sticks though.

Cool knife !!!
