It was found digging around in our front yard. It has the sheen to it that I've seen in older bottles, but I have no clue where to start with IDing the approximate year. Front and back are shown.

Thanks!

Hello. Is there any embossing on it and where does the mold seam stop. I'd day late 19th century but could be wrong. Others will chime in. Nice find though. HH.

Hello Chas,

Welcome to the TNet, and thanks for bringing this nice old bottle by way of introduction.

It looks last quarter of the 19th Century to me. What's the base look like, please?

There are no words on the bottle, although the front has a depressed rectangle.

The bottom has two smaller circular indents in the larger oval (and normal) indent.

I can't tell if I'm seeing a pontil or not the pic looks disotrted to me, can you take a pic of the base at an angle? I'm thinking 1870ish, maybe a bit earlier.

Hey Chas,

This photo is looking kinda pontily to me, but can't quite tell... Could'ya take some photos in natural light, please.

There's a glare, and loss of detail with the lighting in these.

now the neck, especially where the lip meets the neck and the shoulder. (close up)

Looks pontiled to me and I like the fact it has an area for a label, could be 1850-60.... I like it alot

The lighting in the apartment isn't great, but I did the best I could.

One of those pics of the base there appears to be a seem running across it. Then in the other pics i don't see it. Does anyone else see that?

Picture 7 i think. Could be glare playing tricks with my old eyes

that is an applied tapered lip with an irregular bottom where the lip meets the neck,1830's to 1870's...i also see the seam on the bottom that Bass Assassin sees
