Your plug is your clue.

Is that a plug that would fit in an American socket? Looks European to me. But I'm not familiar with the earliest forms of plug here in the U.S.

good call on the plug!

its a euro plug for sure. i've had some of those on german table radios i've collected over the years. the cloth cord to me indicates early 1940's or older. rubber insulation was commonplace already in 1940's household items.

try entering the writing on the back into google and see what comes back.

try a paper over it pencil lead rubbing over the area -- the lettering shoukd stand out-- Ivan

Ahura Mazda was the Persian god of light. GE used the word "mazda" on their light bulbs from 1909 to 1945. I have no idea what the "unisFrance" is about. Perhaps a French company used the Mazda trademark as well.

The lamp plug sure look European, and quite old. I couldn't read the mark on the lamp base though. Let us know if you can figure out what it says.
