I have a few questions...

What part of the country did you find this in?
Could you take a pic of the bottom of it?
What type of material is wrapped around the outside of the piece?
Can you take pictures of it outside in a more natural light.
How have the side handles been attached to the body?

Dimensions would also be helpful? :dontknow:

Thanks,
Dave

It looks like the handles are not attached but part of the woven material case

What type of metal do you think it is?

It's difficult to tell from the pictures, but it looks to me like the wrappings and bindings on the handles aren't real... but are part of the moulding for the piece to make it look like a wrapped container. If that's the case, I would suspect it's a vintage vase in 'water-carrier' style and probably from India. Could be bronze or cast iron (a magnet will tell you) but I think neither ancient nor valuable.

I bought it in Florida, the handles are not directly attached to the pot itself and as far as the material goes, I would almost say leather but it’s rock solid now.

Thanks very much for the follow up pics Alexander, these are much more helpful.
To me, it has a 'Middle Eastern' look, but why is it made of cast iron?

Likely designed for storing a specific type of fluid, powder or chemical. :icon_scratch:
Iron is definitely not 'transport friendly' due to the weight... so what was it made for?

Hopefully someone here will be able to assist you further with this piece.

Dave .. How do we know it is cast iron? I don't think the OP has said what type of metal it is.

Wonder why the extra ring on the inside of the mouth...

Looks like raw hide wrapped around the outside and handles...

The pics make it look like pottery but you say its metal??
