How much would these bring? Large Millitary Shells

There was an estate sale this Thursday morning which was run by family members rather than a sales company.... I went towards the tools and Trudy went inside and located some jewelry. She found a silver-looking $3 "Lady Elgin". As she waited on me to go through a 16'x20' workshop, she sat in the pickup and saw it is stamped "14kt Gold" in white gold, plus she found some Rhinestone items, gold over sterling necklace, and several pair of sterling earrings for a total, including the $3 watch, of $17.

In the first pile........, I found shop tools, Jorgensen bar and Bessy "F" clamps, machinist tooling and more, as shone in the pics. The fellow's father made knives so there are several 2" thick by 6 to 12" pieces of white oak and walnut along with 8 to 10 knife blanks. I also found a "Tri-Stone" Norton #313 oil bath sharpening case with three 14" x 3" stones. I paid $55.00 for all that plus three large howitzer shells and sections of round brass stock about 8" up to 3 ft. long. I paid up and started loading up.....but went back for a "Second Look"....

  1. The second pile has Starrett brand measuring tools and scribes, assorted V-blocks, dial gauge still in the box, ON-OFF magnetic V-block, a 3/8" drive torque wrench, two sets of Sweden made files, complete shiny set of old auger bits, expansive bit, a "rosebud" reamer, 3-1/2lbs of scrap copper (worth:$10), tubing bender, Metal alphabet stamp set, a 1/16"-1/2" size set of "Drill Blanks and matching Letter size set, 4" long antique adjustable wrench, assorted Nicholson rasps and files, and twist dynamite detonator and circuit checker, plus more flat sheet brass stock of various thicknesses, two twin blade axes, and more seen in the pics ... $75.
After all the digging, and even going into the ceiling joists and rafters, I was dirty, sweaty, and happy as I loaded all this and drove home... It filled a Contractor's 6 cu.ft. wheelbarrow...and across the rear handles... What do you think the howitzer shells would sell for?

Until someone pipes in - I would jump over to the EBay Search Page and see what they are going for...

Looking over your stuff. Here is my sweep of the eye assessment and double check sales history. The 14k ladies watch. I have scrapped many and I estimate all I find of at least 3 grams of golds when stripped of movement, cyrstal and leaving only the case.

Actual value this morning of 3 grams 14K gold scrap is $73.86 That is if the word goldfilled do not follow the 14K mark on this ladies watch
The Norton Multi Oil Stone, your type. They sell well at $80 to $100.00
The Detonator. mid 60s Atlas type, One sold recently for $182.00
The Galvanometer modern type, Current Detector. $15.00 to $20.00
The RIDGID that looks like a 3" to 3-1/2" pipe chain vise $30.00 to $40.00
All the other tools, shells and scrap. $200.00 to $250.00...Make lamps out of the howitzer shells

No clue what all you'll get for it.

The auger bits for a brace in the red roll up package...

What brand are they?

They look to be in pristine condition. If so, and they have a decent brand name, those were bringing $$ on the 'bay in good condition.

Sitting on top of the green Rubbermaid tote, on the far left, is an adjustable monkey wrench.

I don't know the current wrench market on ebay...but I've seen those sell for $$$.

Is that an Anthol brand adjustable wrench?

I'd buy that and the wood handled ratcheting tools. One of them has a drill chuck on the end. May not be worth a dime, but they are unusual to see.

The auger bits are "Irwin", including the expansive bit and cutter. It appears they've spent their life wrapped in that carrier because there's no rust.

The furniture clamps in the pic with the green tote are easily worth $10-$15 each at your own garage sale or at a flea market.

If I had those at my flea market, I'd ask $15 each, and expect them to sell in a day.

Not worth much on the 'bay, and hard to ship.

NICE!!!!! That is a good name...

I missed seeing the 2 shorter furniture clamps.

I have a pair of those now, and marked them $12 for a quick flip. They are Pony brand.

The small adjustable wrench is stamped: "The Billings & Spencer Co. , a Triangle with an S in the center,
The 2nd line has: Hartford Conn. U.S.A"

The sliding stem extends to 1" and is marked in 1/32nd increments.

All three of the wooden handles are attached to different size 3-jaw chucks. I don't think that they ratchet.

The pair of "72" inch Jorgensen bar clamps was a good find for me. I can always use some that length. Whether you buy them locally and pay sales tax, or buy them on the Net and pay shipping, one would cost you about $50 each. I would buy half a dozen more if I found you selling the same ones :hello2:.

Thanks for the insight. I still don't know much about the big military shell casings. Our Craigs List is very touchy about anything concerning arms. Last month, I listed "black powder" kit and it wouldn't let me post my garage sale until I removed it....

Fantastic haul of great tools! That man never wanted to borrow anything, seems he had it all. HH
