How much is this Civil War Medal worth?

I acquired this medal that appears to be from the civil war.
It says:

"MAJ. GEN. JOS. HOOKER. 1863"

"WAR OF 1861 HATTERAS, INLET, PORT ROYAL, FREDERICKSBURG, CHANCCELORVILLE, GETTYSBURG. ENGAGED IN THE ABOVE BATTLES."

This appears to be commemorating Major General Hooker of the Union Army of these battles.

On the back it says:

"CORPL GEO. C. HUNTERSON FORMERLY OF THE U.S.S. FLAG. AND THE Co.C. 114th. Pv. Vol. NOW IN Co.B.22d.V.R.C. "

I have no idea what this means so if anybody has any information about it and what it could sell for at auction I would love to know.

Does anybody know the context? Would it have been given to Joseph Hooker? If not then who?

That writing on the back looks like it as done with individual letter stamps which could have been done anytime up to yesterday so without a good provenance it would be hard to value and hard for a real museum to accept. Small local museums will accept anything and often display items which are not related to the descriptions given them by the museum. Cool piece, likely originally made post war. Do you have any solid provenance for it??

Ok Im pretty sure I see the Boston and Merriam!! Would you have any ballpark idea of how much it might be worth? Are there any examples of one that sold at auction?
