I acquired this medal that appears to be from the civil war.
It says:
"MAJ. GEN. JOS. HOOKER. 1863"
"WAR OF 1861 HATTERAS, INLET, PORT ROYAL, FREDERICKSBURG, CHANCCELORVILLE, GETTYSBURG. ENGAGED IN THE ABOVE BATTLES."
This appears to be commemorating Major General Hooker of the Union Army of these battles.
On the back it says:
"CORPL GEO. C. HUNTERSON FORMERLY OF THE U.S.S. FLAG. AND THE Co.C. 114th. Pv. Vol. NOW IN Co.B.22d.V.R.C. "
I have no idea what this means so if anybody has any information about it and what it could sell for at auction I would love to know.
