Detector(s) used
MineLab SE Pro, Garrett Ace 250, Teknetics Gamma 6000, Nokta Fors Relic, Sunray X-1 Probe, Garrett Pro Pointer, Coiltek Coils
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I only detect when it cools off (October-ish) until it gets to hot (May-ish). Less rattlesnakes on the move and less sweating in the cooler months.

I don’t go outside on wet, cold days (like this week is). Heck, it’s hard even going out to the mail box when it cold.

I got my Garrett Pro Pointer back from Garrett and am dieing to test it out with the weather warms and dry’s out.

You really call that cold down there...LOL

Well, I call it high today 31 degrees if you call that cold I know I do.....LOL....:sadsmiley:

Yea, I agree about the snakes & I also like it because some places in the summer months you cant get to because of the under brush which dies out in the winter nicely :icon_thumleft:

2"-3" of frozen ground buy me. I might try for last hunt this afternoon. Unless I want to start carrying around a pick axe or a jack hammer!

.. 31 is cold but your winters down there does not compare with the ones up north ..... There are times we go 4 to 6 weeks with temps in the 20's or lower .... Were you are you get some cold then you warm up then get cold and warm up again....... There are years we don't warm up for a while...

31 one is a heat wave up here - detecting is pretty much done up here until spring :crybaby2:

When I was a die hard hunter I liked going out when everyone else was sitting by the fire. Blowing
snow is the best time to be all alone.

I know what your saying well I should have ask who swings the old detectors in the winter months that temps get above freezing :BangHead:......LOL

Here in my part of California it's pretty warm in the winter. Usually 40-55 with rain. Just a couple weeks in the winter that it gets in the high 20's low 30's so yeah it's year round detecting here. Sacramento area.

My self I hunt more in the winter then I do in summer but that's just me I like to get out of the house in the winter so this gives me a good reason to be out in the cold. I was just wanting to here from some to see if I was the only odd ball here :dontknow:

i hunt in the winter too,but i probably arent to far from you.i see that you own a SE PRO and an ace 250 ,i own an SE PRO and a tesero vanquero, didnt get to hunt today but plan on going out tomorrow, but if the weather here is like it is up north NOWAY am i gettting out of the house.

I'm in the mid Atlantic. Bare field froze down 2' overnight (guess how I found out), but grassy areas were still ok. I'd go to the beach unless it freezes hard.

I was out yesterday with a pick. Six inches of frost to contend with. I should state I'll only go in plowed feilds until Flathead Lake drops then we detect the lake shore all winter long.

That's something that I want to do is detect around a lake I have never done that I have thought about it but the closest lake is about a hour away might try to hit one this winter I hear they drop the water in the lakes in the winter & I am sure it would be a great place to find some goodies :laughing7:

I at one time hunted in the winter when there was snow on the ground and the temp's dipped down to the lower 20's........... But now that the years have caught up to me i do not hunt in the winter..... But i still like the winter.......

Tuesday night we plummet to the low 40's!
We're a tough bunch down here.
I hunt 50's if there's sunshine- to- 80 cloudy with a breeze.
