I need someone with a? Knowledge of? Surface Measurements & Math.

I have an 1875 Map. and a History that says, there was a Block House(FORT)[point B] 1000 yards from the bridge [Point A], along a creek.

? ?The Scale of the map is 200 Rods to an inch.

I need to travel 1000 yards.

? How far should I Measure from Point A to Point B on the map to reach 1000 Yards ?

Hey Jeff, 1 rod = 5 1/2 yards, good luck!!

181.8 rods in 1000 yards

Thanks, Ken, so it's less then an Inch on the Map.

I'm going to guess about 3/4 inch

Let's see.

A rod is 16.5'. The scale on your map is 200 rods/inch or 3,300'/inch.

If you wish to measure 1,000 yds (3,000') that would be:

3000'
----------- = 0.909"

3300'/inch

Good job, gord.

Thanks GORD, my Measurements, with my 3/4 inch & your 9/10 inch,
on the Old 1875 Map, Compaired to a Present Day map,
and allowing for Road Travel a distance Different from Creek side Travel.

It looks like it may be somewhere between 9/10 Mile ?& 1 Mile, and then start asking Old Timers ?;)

1/10 mile = 176 yards of creek SIDE to look for a Rise, not too bad ?;)
area is Farm land, so I'll have a Pretty Clear View from road to Creek.
