I was just wondering how many bullets you find.? I have be searching my uncles ranch lately and have been finding bullets.? Now I will be honest one of my other hobbies is shooting so I am not surprise to find bullets.? Most of the ones that I have found are new ones I shot from my pistol but today I did find a 30 caliber copper jacket which I know isn't mine and is most likely one of my great uncle's.? He used to hunt around there with is 30-06.? There was no sign of the lead though.? I have been searching places where we used to hunt deer and doves hoping to find a coin or something but nothing yet.? I did manage to get my hands on some airreal photos from the 60's of the place and they show some trees that are not there any more.? I plan to hit that site the end of next week depending on if it gets cold or not.? Well any ways I was just wondering if any one else has found a lot of bullets some where.

Correction its not a 30 is 27 caliber so it most likely came from my cousin or uncle's 270.

Bullets of all kinds, no musketballs though. I was working one sidewalk demo downtown where I live one day thouroughly, the next day one of the same spots I had been to had 5 brand new 9mm slugs in about a 5 foot square area but no associated police reports. Kind of puts your eyes over your shoulder sometimes.

Good Question...
I find bullets all the time. Mostly in the puplic parks around here.
Not sure how they all get there, maybe fall from being fired at New Years, as most of them look not to have hit anything.
The actual bullets didn't bother me, but when I found one that had not been fired yet, it made me think, " I better be a little more carefull dig'n " you never knoow what you might run across.
So-far, I have found two 44 cal. cartridges that have not been fired.
Both were found at the same park about 100 yards apart.

In the area here, north of Houston, my hunting partner and I have found just about every type of bullet and shell casing you can think of . Recently we have been finding pistol balls They are fairly small caliber( I don't know guns that well) and most have not hit anything. A couple of days ago I dug a very large (and old) caliber brass rifle cartridge. I was told that it dates to about 1880. The bullets and cartridges that we've dug over the last year, or so, date from probably about 1850 to very recently.
Keep up the good work.

in the one drained lake I was doing, I was finding Caches of Live 22 Shells & so many other types, it was obvious someone through Boxes of 22's & hanfulls of Shells in the lake. Either from a Robbery, or just to dispose of old ammo. ......... I kind of think a robbery of a gun shop & deduced, IF that is the case, you would think they also stole guns. & if they thru the Ammo away, it was probably because they got scared. & if they got scared & thru the Ammo away, they probably also thru the Guns in also. ........ I'm still waiting for the next draining, to keep looking for them. I only search this area of the lake an hour or so a day, when it is drained, because I get tired if digging live shells. their more plentiful then cantabs in a park? :(

speeking of being careful while digging, I found a used syringe next to the
bench at a volleyball court in the park here. I let the park guys know and they said they would
take care of it.

I eyeballed a Syringe in a parking lot once. I just disposed of it in the trash bin. No one around to notify. WAS GLAD I WAS WEARING GLOVES

i found a ton of bullets last place I lived all big caliber too, Found a few musket balls recently too, HH CS

most likely a 30-06 because alot of 30-06 rounds are famous for the jacket seperating from the slug because of high speeds. I shoot too :)

Here's a few of my bullet finds from last year, includes C.W. cannon fuses, button, and canteen lip

One ancient nearby spot with good old targets always produces tons of .45's. It's across the river and about 700 meters down range from the State Police pistol range. When hunting there I like to listen for the distant pops. A good indicator that it's not a good day to dig there. Don't know how they get the trajectory to land there, the backstop for the target area is a hill that rises some 20+ feet above the target level and at pistol range distances should not be over-shot by that much. But then again sometimes you can hear the guys are just trying to empty those magazine wells quickly.

I have found a few of the on the beach and near a pirate well. The one i found at a pirate well was shot and hit a Spanish olive jar.

Hi all,
I find a lot of shell casing when I detect also. I probably find more of them than bottle tops. I live out in the country in Vermont and there are lots of hunters and also a lot of people that just target practice. I have yet to find a live one and really don't think I care to.

Hi there, I was MD'ing near an old ammo production factory for WWII and I found thousands and thousands and THOUSANDS of fired bullets pouring out of a creek bank! I like to melt lead and cast Minies for my .58 caliber mizzleloader, so I have a lifetime supply of lead, lol. I have also found quite a few musket balls, old larger caliber rimfire cartridges, and some live ammo. The largest of the live ammo was a .50 BMG anti-tank bullet! HH!

Fox

P.S. I also sell those lead bullets by the pound. If you are interested, send a PM

yep - all the time out in the sticks. Slugs, minnies, musket balls, etc. Lots of them in the ground for sure!
