How have large dollars been producing?

It's not typical to order large dollars from any bank. But you'll occasionally find Ike rolls. Others like myself have scored ASE's from teller trays.

I scored 5 Morgans and 5 Peace dollars loose from a teller who checked the vault for me in October. Then three weeks later went to another branch of the same bank and got 1 more Peace dollar. Also found 2 Morgans and two Peace dollars in a bunch of, get this, change here at the house. Must have been my brother's before he died. I hadn't looked though the change before. Both key Peace dollars were in the batch from the bank, the 1921 and 1928. I've been asking for "large dollars" when I go to the branches but haven't been able to get any since then.

I was able to order a $1000 bag of Ikes and didn't find one silver coin within. I was so excited when it arrived. The order came in a regular coin counter bag, but within that bag was 10 bags each containing $100 worth of coins. Those individual bags were sealed and numbered, and I'm guessing straight from a large vault. I wonder what the likelihood of finding silver in those bags is. I won't have an answer to that until I get rid of the Ikes I still have!

Wow....5 Morgans and 5 Peace dollars @ fv including a '21 and '28....that's incredible. My best silver dollar score was 4 Morgan dollars including a nice low mintage 1899 from a bank about 2 1/2 yrs ago. Then in Feb of this year I scored my first ASE (my avatar) I've ever found CRHing. Ive only found a total of 3 silver Ikes CRHing, 2 '71S's a couple of months ago and a '72S on black Friday 2 yrs ago tomorrow. Ive never found any in rolls....my finds were all loose coin finds. I don't seem to find many large dollar rolls out there.

Finding the silver ones makes searching through all the clad ones worthwhile.

I still don't think it happened. I assume it was an act of God. Definitely not normal. I don't know if I'll ever find any from banks again. I've never dug a silver dollar or silver half either.

How hard was it to actually get the bank to order them? I have asked but always get the Nope, can't order them any more from the teller manager.

It took one hyperactive personal banker that heard me talking about the topic with the vault manager to finally make it happen. The vault manager just didn't think it was possible, but the personal banker knew that all it would take was a phone call. He was a little miffed by her jumping in like that since it was his call, but it was pretty neat to watch unfold.

I only know one member on here that orders ikes but I won't say who he/she is, but generally the ike bags don't produce silver.

I have a bank that will try to order me Ikes every week, wither or not I get them depends if brinks has them in stock. I found a Type 2 '72 before. Sold for 50 bucks. No silver yet, then again, I haven't even been able to obtain a full bag yet haha. Good luck!

I got 2 silver ikes out of a teller's tray a little while back, and then just a couple weeks ago I got 3 Morgans and another silver ike from another teller. Pretty awesome! And probably over 300 Ikes to go along with it. I've had some luck selling these on Ebay for a modest profit of about 50 cents per coin too (after fees), though it's pretty slow most of the time.

In over five years straight roll hunting and picking up big dollars whenever possible, I've never found a keeper.

I have dug an 1887 Morgan, and a Peace dollar.

No keepers for me either in the 2000+ I've searched in the past few years.

I have gotten about 400 in Ikes from a bunch of random banks. The best I have found is: 1 extremely worn proof Ike. I checked all my 72s for Type 2s to no avail. I did get teller snipped for a Morgan once, that is my only "near miss".

All the ones I got from the bank were from the teller.
