How does a bird know how to build a nest?

All I know is that bird is a badass. Seriously though you’re right who taught them this. They had to have watched someone.

"There has been some recent debate about whether nest building is a learned or instinctive behavior. It is primarily instinctive, but it has been clearly shown that birds that build intricate nests, like the group called weavers, learn and become better nest builders over time."

I would agree. "Instinct" is a brilliant form of intelligence, in that it not only enables, but it also ensures, that every individual, of every species, will always do what is right or correct for an individual of that species to do in any given situation. Unless of course that individual is born with a significant brain defect, or suffers a significant brain injury later in it's life. We homo sapiens are the only species we are aware of on Earth who have brains large enough, and complex enough, that we are no longer controlled or restrained by our "instinct", or as we also commonly call it our "self -conscious". We homo sapiens will often do things which we instinctively know are not correct or right for an individual of our species to do in a given situation. This I believe is where we get our sense of "right" and "wrong", and "good' and "evil". This is also where we get our feelings of guilt, remorse, inferiority complexes and self loathing. All the other species on Earth still exist in a figurative "Garden of Eden", where everything they need for their survival and sustenance are available to them in their environment, and they never do "wrong" or "evil", nor are even aware of such concepts as we homo sapiens are. We homo sapiens however have evolved beyond our basic instincts, and have forever lost our place in this figurative "Garden of Eden".

I'm pretty sure the birds use a secret handshake to pass off blueprints to one another. Birds are sneaky like that!

God put there when He created them

Scientists have recovered Microchips while doing research on bird carcasses. Encryption on some of the microchips were instructions on nest building, aerial maneuvers, mating rituals, and how to build a proper fire.

why does science have to mess with everything :BangHead::BangHead:

Yep and some feathered friend will be standing in the window giving us the bird??

. . . kinda like a computer programmer may write a subroutine in a bit of code. The subroutine usually runs sometime after they get over being "twitterpated" (reference the original "Bambi" by Walt Disney Studios).

How do humans know how to blink when looking at light...? How do we know how to walk upright now...? How do/did we learn what is a threat and what isn't quickly?

It's all based upon intelligence... all of it. From birds, reptiles, humans and all other ocean going species. We "fancy" ourselves as a superior intelligence... but in reality we're barely above any other critters intelligence to survive. In face we're probably one of the weakest...? All we do better is rearrange our environment to benefit ourselves as all others just want to survive.
