Technically, either is correct. But saying CASH-AY just sounds too pansy to me... or too French... or both... :D

I heard our troops saying cash-a in Iraq. I do believe here in the USA its, "cash"

I use the English pronunciation...but the word IS French--the verb means "to hide."

Cash-A would be spelled Cachet.

Cache, TECHNICALLY, is pronounced like CASH, but most of the old time THers and prospectors I have met pronounce it like CATCH. I say cash.

Said the Czechoslovakian looking for a place to hide: "Do you cache Czechs here ?"

Gollum is correct - Cachet is pronounced 'Cash-A'

Do we gotta press ONE for English?

When you find a cache, you see cash or you can turn the cache into cash. Since our American version of the English language has the word "cash" meaning money, then it makes sense to pronounce cache cashey. Usually, it is qualified by a previous mention of finding something hidden, or shortly thereafter. The word cash, money, is rarely if ever used when talking about money, or cash.

The pronunciation of cachet is qualified by the conversation.
