I have found two banks in my area with coin counters, but they are both behind the counter in a back room. When dumping I usually dump 800-1000 dollars at a time, mostly halves but also including other change I pick up during the week. I have been carrying them in two 30 cal. ammo cans, and each can is pretty full. I never weighed a full can, but they are heavy. Most of the tellers do not like having to carry the can back to the coin machine, and I am trying to think of a better way to carry my dumps so that the tellers do not have to carry the full cans.

Right now, the best thing I can think of is to put the coins in bags, and the bags in the can. This way I can still carry everything together, but they can carry the bags individually back to the coin machine.

Do you have any suggestions?

Canvas bags. They come and go that way.

I use a large plastic beach pail :laughing7:

I've been filling it to the brim quite often and dumping, though it has no lid.

I hold it by the bottom, take handfulls out, when it's low enough, pour slowly down the ramp into the coin machine.

I haven't had a problem in the past year when I really started CRH.

Just got to be careful stopping short in the car or making sharp turns.

Hope this helps, good luck, BuffaloBoy.

I carry my in bags. Have only been dumping around $500 at a time....Matt

Thanks to this man

I too use canvas bags...They are a MUST!

I agree with the others. Those canvas bags are the way to go. Until I acquired one, I used those gallon size tupperware-type pitchers with a snap on lid. They'll hold about $700 worth of halves, and the handle makes it easy to carry.

I use large plastic Maxwell House coffee cans with the handle. Each can will easily hold 1000 halves.
If you bring them in two at a time you have to carry them at a 90 degree angle.

I transport my dumps in the classiest way I know.....a purple Crown Royal bag!

$750 in dimes will fill one bag nicely.

i use giant Tupperware containers (from walmart, they have lids that latch on the sides)...each can easily hold $1,000 of halves...hope this helps!

Add me to the list of canvas bag users. They work well. I usually carry $300-$750. They start go get heavy around $500. $750 is not "heavy", but it's not light lol.

Thanks for the input. How did you aquire the canvas bags? I have never seen them in use at any of the banks I have been in. The one time I saw them change bags on a coin counter it was using a plastic bag.

Thanks.

Thats simple. 4k in halves fit very well in a rubbermaid bin, sitting pretty ontop of this bad boy... A Remin Tri-Kart 800

Specs:
The Remin Tri-Kart 800 uses a patented, push-button locking system with tubular polycarbonate handle and 6" roller bearing semi-pneumatic wheels. It has chrome plated solid steel wheel guards to protect loads and steel sliding base lock.

It has a weight capacity of 300 lbs (136kg) and is constructed of chrome plated steel wire, with curb/stair slides. Adjustable lock on permanently attached elastic cords prevents load shifting.

Quite often I put the coins in the boxes they come in without the wrappers of course. I can fit about $1500 of any denomination except 1 and 5 into a yellow backpack. I walk right in and the tellers know me right away. They can easily move the boxes to the machine and I always know how much I have. I replace the keepers so all boxes equal what is written on the side.

Where could I get a decant sized canvas bag? Enough to easily hold $500 in halves, but not too big?

I was never able to get canvas bags before (Finally got one yesterday!) so for the last few months I've been using bags I made.

I asked my dump bank what would be the easiest way for me to bring in coins, they said they prefer bags over any other sort of container. Given that I had no bags, I took a pair of jeans and cut a large section of leg out of each one (I'm a 34/32 to give you an idea). Then I turned the tube of cloth inside out and sewed together one end with the wife's sewing machine, used a stitch that was really close and used a lot of thread, not sure how important that was. Turned it back around and hemmed the top edge. I'll usually tie a shoestring around it to keep it closed. Works great and all my dump banks know me by them, I've gotten some complements on my denim bags actually :)

since i can't dump more than $400 halves at a time, i use ziploc heavy duty double zipper bags. small ones will hold $100-$125 each, larger would hold double that amount. then just put them in a shopping bag or messenger bag and carry from my car to the bank. these are great and re-usable

I carry them in a backpack. I like it because the weight rests on my shoulders and not my hands. It also serves the purpose of concealing what's on me, and hopefully makes potential thieves(very very rare in my area) think "Oh, he's just a broke college kid, I wouldn't get anything good off him." I even carry pepper spray for that one in a million or whatever chance someone will try to jack my coins.

I use large plastic peanut butter jars and put them in either cat litter pails or a very heavy duty canvas con ed bag. But when actually dumping i use a backpack since i only dump 1-3 jars at a time.

I use the Costco-Target peanut/cashew 23 oz containers. They hold about 450 +/- each making it real easy on the tellers when the machines are behind the counter, and easy enough for me when I dump myself. I will post a picture when I get a chance.
