How did the 1715 beaches hold up?

Very interested in a local report. I plan to drive over from Tampa and give it a go for a couple of days. Thanks in advance!

Earlier today I saw pics purported to be of Wabasso Beach, 9/4/19, that show extreme beach cuts and erosion. I'm packing as I type, 12 hour drive for me, the public beaches are supposed to be open Friday and I will be at Corrigan's detecting what I can. GL & HH !!

Everything is open.
Not much cut at all from what I have seen.
I have heard of 2 coins found, but a good number of people out and about swinging detectors.
Your milage may vary. I'd look at the beach cams before I drove any distance.
Dorian missed us in Sebastian by 75 miles and I am thrilled about it.

Here's some video from about 2 miles south of the Inlet.

A little bit of beach erosion cuts, is better than none. I'd get out there and swing them coils anyways.

The 11pm news was on and the beaches are covered with hunters... We didn't even get any rain....

I was at Brooks yesterday afternoon, there are cuts but new sand already building on the beach. Probably 6 hunters there, aggravating thing is that some were digging and not filling their holes, or picking up the aluminum slaw that they dug, GRRRRRRR. Never seen so much aluminum on that beach before, it was every where.

And that's how beaches get closed to diggers. Very sad.

Anyone see much erosion from the storm?

Bonsteel Park area had a cut that shut the walkway down. Everywhere else wasn't too bad considering the long time Dorian was sitting off the Bahamas and creeping up the coast. Every beach I visited from McLarty to Rio Mar to John Brooks already had sand buildup. I guess the trick is to get there just as the winds and rains are letting off. Still was fun regardless and can't wait for some hard cold fronts to get these beaches down to some old ground.

Went out to New Smyrma beach today. A few cuts but nothing to write home about. I saw 3 other guys hunting as well. Found some trash and a few clad coins. One of the guys I talked to found a nice wedding ring with a nice diamond.

I kept constant tabs on Dorian since I have family members in the eastern seaboard, but even as I saw the pictures of the aftermath, I very vaguely thought of what the crews of the 1715 fleet were going through as the hurricane was ripping their ships apart.
