WhitesID is young and still has time to do this before retirement.
Wish I knew how.

i want the gold plate, not just taking it off 8)Noodle said:It's been my experience that gold plating will remove with washing. It's like paint. (In fact, it is painted on.) Get one of those gels that strips paint, and it'll be gone. -Noodle
i got a bunch of old 18k plated ringsvegasmtl said:I am not sure how, but people do remove the plating in computer boards and recover the gold. I see computer stuff on ebay for this purpose. They also sell videos on how to remove it for profit. Of course, the profit is from selling the videos...
What are you trying to recover?

jeff as far as I know there is about $7.50 aboard early 1980s boards don't know about the later onesjeff of pa said:Electrolysis will remove Gold Plate from Rings.
I have Ruined one by doing this to try & Clean it.
However the Electrolysis will also remove other things
I'm sure & How you would seperate the Gold, I'm not sure.
Maybe High Heat, But ? Is it worth the Risk of loosing it
all ?
I saw a Program on how they Seperate Gold in Computers.
There is under $2.00 worth per board I Believe.
They Pulverize the whole thing & Use temperatures so hot only the Gold Survives.
