My MXT is giving me the occasional hot rock reading. I notice it will do it if iron is in the ground but sometimes it does it with no iron around. Could someone tell me why I get this reading. I'm usually hunting in coin, jewelry mode. Any help would be appreciated.

Pepper :)

Why? Because there IS iron mineralization in the ground. Some peoplethink because they can't see iron fragmentsthen there must be something wrong. You will probably want to invest in a 6x10 DD or 4x6DD
coil. It handles the mineralization quite well. I'm about to invest in one real soon. I use the 5.3 coil which is really good, but I still get that HOT ROCK reading when theres too much iron content in the ground.
Theres nothing wrong with your MXT!

I'm sending you a private message.

By the way, turn down the sensitivity on the MXT. This should also help.
I just dropped you an e-mail.
