I found this horseshoe on a wildlife preserve anyone know what kind it is, I've never seen one like it.

That explains it Gypsy, the preserve is on a bog and in the late 1800's and early 1900's there were Indians hired to haul peat up from the bog, that more than likely explains what it was doing there. Thanks

thier are many shoes like that it is made for traction.
doesnt look that old to me and i have done some shoes in my day.
god help you if you ever do it its the hardest work on the back i ever did.
then i learned the hard way to wear chaps.
one horse shoe nail scraped accross your leg and you would know what i meen. they are extreamly sharp.

the fat clip is for digging in for better traction the skinny edge on the top front is to protect the front of the hoof from splintering.

Hoof trimmings are nothing but the toenails or fingernails...protein mmmmmmmmmmmmgood

The shoe looks like it may have been from a mule...their hooves are much narrower than a horse...

I've had dogs most all my life and I never got around trimmings so I couldn't say, there's a lot of nasty stuff that dogs will eat though!

And people love to kiss dogs...yet they don't realize that the dog was just licking his butt or eating some indescribable delight he found lying outside of a kibo.
