These are for oxen,my grandfather used to be a blacksmith near Herrick Center,Pa. and people would bring their oxen to him from far away, I'll see if i can find an unused set around here but most of my fathers junque',which was his dad's went after he passed in 1999,Ill try to find my grandmothers diary and post a few pages as she was the money person and fed the folks while waiting etc.

oxen shoes is right . They were used alot for farming due to the fact that they ate less and worked harder then horses and were less likely to be stolen by horse thieves.Here are the ones i found

Oxen had many uses they were also the "big Rigs",of the day,most overland freighting was done by them.Everything from supplies to logs.There old time logging camps in my area that you could dig shoes all day long.I once hunted a grade going to Virginia City Nevada and found a five gallon bucket of the shoes.
