Anybody ?

I have found a similar buckle when I lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Mine has a small anchor design stamped on the reverse. I think these were fairly common military officer belt buckle from the early 1900's to after WW2, or at least, that's what research I've done so far has indicated. Specifically, the "Sam Browne Belt" rig -I've attached a picture of one of those "Sam Browne" belts.Sam-Browne-belt.jpg NOT HORSE TACK! Better!

PS - Yours may date from the Civil War, I did not mean to say that these appeared in the 1900's, I just meant they became much more common in the 1900's.

I'm far from being an expert on horse harness, but the harness I've worked with, both the work collar and the breast strap, back band style of buggy harness didn't have any buckles that looked like that one.

Thanks for the info guys.
