Horse Tack??

Dug this near a bridle trail so I assume it may be something horse related. Doesn't appear to have been the ground very long.
Any input is appreciated.

The style of pin appear to be called a 'table lock pin'.

i got one of those on my pintle hitch trailer. it holds the top of the pintle shut.

Hunters tree climbers use them and they lose them all the time. Was it found under a tall straight tree? I sometimes eyeball them on the ground..
