I found this buckle at a place I find old horse shoes and other late 19th and early 20th century hardware items. It was along an old fence line that I believe followed an old country road by the items I find along that fence line. It kind of looks like the old Oshkosh B' gosh strap buckles, but it's to big for those and they were brass. I'm not finding any buckles like it to compare online, but I do believe it was involved with tacking up horses or mules.
It measure 2" by 2" and is made of iron.
