Found this on saturday when out with my son. He is starting to get hooked on this hobby finally after he found his first flat button. Still need to help him find an old coin but that will come.

Anyway found this and I know I have seen one on this forum before but not sure. I think it is a buckle that would strap the saddle onto the horse. I think this would go under the horse to hold the saddle on. Can anyone help me ID this.

The other things were a pin from West Point Military Academy bicentennial (1802 - 2002) and the other is a locket that I am not sure how old it is but I do not think it is old at all. I do not see anything telling me that it is precious metal and the only thing stamped on it is on the little tag that says "BAHNER". Did a google search and see an artist that makes jewelry name Bahner but his stuff is stamped VB or something like that. Not sure if he made anything else that is stamped with his full last name. This came up in the nickel/ pulltab range so I know it is not silver and highly doubt it would be gold.

ANyway help me out with the buckle if you could. Just wanting to verify what I think it is.

Thanks.

Typically saddle d-rings are riveted or sewn into the saddle skirt and do not have the extension to the back side of the ring as you found.

Glad to hear your son is getting involved. I have seen buckles like that, but don't know for sure what they are for. Nice other finds too. Bergie
