Found this at a very old homestead but am not sure how old any ideas. Looks like it at one point had a pin on it.

Your brooch is from the Victorian era, and is probably made from brass. In 1840 Queen Victoria and her husband attended Derby Day. Below is a link with more information on Derby Day.
