I would tend to think it's for one of their hounds. Some kind of identification tag. Try getting ahold of them, they are still in business.

Charlottesville is my home town. Are you in Charlottesville? Farmington Country Club is certainly still there, assuming the Hunt Club was part of FCC. If you are in Cville, perhaps we should go detecting next time I pass through town to see family.

Farmington Hunt Club is off of Garth Road in the area of the Hunt Country Store. No affiliation to Farmington Country Club that I know of.

phone area code for charlottsville (see my other post). Probably was for a dog- rabbit dog (unlikely), bird dog (also unlikely), coon hound (most likely). Ocassionly a coon dog will run a deer and go beyound hearing, becomeing lost. When that happens throw your jacket or shirt on the ground (it has your scent on it) and come back the next day, usually the dog will backtrack himself and when he finds the shirt/jacket will stay with it for a day or so,and you can recover him. This really works, and certainly has worked for me (got a very valuable coon hound/squirrell dog back).
