Its small like a burro not a horse. I did not think it was a shoe at all at first.

I don't think that is a shoe for any type of critter. A shoe would be made in the shape of the hoof.

We need a measurement of it, or place something beside it, [ a dollar bill ] so it can help us. Right now, I don't think it is a shoe.

I don't know anything about it other than where I found it.

it would be cool to put that in an electrolysis tank. it might reveal something.

THANK YOU for the measurement. It looks like approximately 4" x 4", which should help us. One end of it looks bent & tapered.
Since it is a fairly large steel item,, is there evidence of a train or railroad track in the area ??

No train tracks. It was found in a feild near Peublo Viejo historic site. The fort built by Columbus in 1492. I got permition to hunt the field but only had a short time and didn't find much.
