Hornstone Cores.

Heres 2 hornstone cores that i found in ross, county ohio the large one is often called a
haystack.

Nice choo. I always like finding those. Found a flint core the other day used in knapping. My best find of the day.

Choo, i have found two out of hornstone that look nearly identical to the larger one you posted. I would post a pic but, they are boxed up somewhere.

Here's a couple I found this year. The one on the right is pretty cool because there's a big crystal in the middle and you can see how the ancient knapper worked around. It's some grade chert typical of this part of Va.


That haystack core is really nice choo great find.

Which quarry site?

My Quarry Site...............a field here in N.W.Ark...........that was used to work/knapp artifacts in for many years by early Cultures.......................the Middle Woodland Culture left way to much debitage in that place..............
Even though they only left me 2 cores....................my other looks exactly like the 2nd core in Choo hand....................
