Hello all, pretty new at this. So I will re-post pics with a scale to kindly ask members for help identifying this object that I recently found with my at gold. I think it's an old horn button with a rocket or plane motif encircled with a swirl or jet stream but I could be wrong. I gently cleaned it as the gold colour plating is flaking away. Dimensions are 3 7/8' or 10 cm diameter. No markings that I can see on either side. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks and hh.

this is a simple guess...It reminds me of the wheel hub for vintage pedal car/plane.An avenue for research.

cheers

Give us a good pic of the back. Even without a back mark the method of construction can still help date it.

Ahh, glad you reported this with additional information, as last time I thought you meant a clothing button with horn design. :tongue3:
A picture of the back will help though, or description of how it was attached... I think Bigfoot may be on to something, but those attach differently than many automotive steering wheel center caps (which sometimes weren't the horn button).

How tall is the lip around the edge? And is heavier than a stamped steel item (that I'd first I thought it was, but now think it looks like a cast piece)... I'm beginning to wonder if it's actually a lid.
The design actually now looks more like a shooting star to me... The symmetry of the flying object shows better from the back.

Overall thickness is 10 mm or 7/16" , non-magnetic and yes I think it's cast. If you look at the back pic it has raised round fasteners maybe ?(broken). Yes nhbenz, shooting star appears more likely. Thanks bigfoot your observation will guide me in that direction. Thanks again to everyone for your input and hh.
