Hoping for 90%s in a good run of 40%s.

The last box of halves I searched through I found 13 40%s, and the entire time I was really hoping I'd find at least one 90%. I suppose I was kinda bummed not finding any this time even though I found silver. I know the feeling when you have a really solid-looking edge and you think, "man, that has to be or I really hope it's a 90%, would be nice to find one among all these 40%s," and then you pull it out to see that nope, its just another 40%. I do realize there are more 40%ers out there, but still, it's a bit of a bummer getting a nice double digit batch of silver and not having a 90% or two mixed in. At least, I think so sometimes. Oh well, next time I usually tell myself.

How many of you get the same way when on a 40%er streak?

Not me. Silver is silver. And I am Happy when I find it. If it makes you feel better, I had a bag with 191 40%s one time with no 90%s

Of course the thought pops up every now and then, but you obviously take what you can get. A solid run of 40% kens is better than the one order of two boxes of halves that didn't come yesterday and the five consecutive skunk boxes I had between last night and this morning!

Well I'm happy to find anything in my half boxes anymore, so 40% are fine with me!!!

My best box ever, December 2009 had (71) 40% with zero 90%.

Yes I have been feeling that way the past 3 weeks!! Especially this past week... My average for the year is 1 90% for every 5 40% I find. Past 2 weeks I found 9 90% and 96 40%ers... Which is 1 90% per every 10.666 40%ers. Around half the amount of 90% compared to my average.

Last week I had 2 90% and 38 40%. Pulled in a bunch of silver for sure, but wanted more 90% haha!

sure 90%ers are nice but as long as I'm finding silver my itch is scratched

Disappointment at only finding 40%....never. When I was on my 40 to 50 box skunk streak, I would have killed for a single 40%er. I guess we would all prefer 90%. Heck, we'd all prefer a bunch of seated liberties but the bottom line is any coin, silver or not, that has a true value of 2x (double) the face value will get me excited.

You have to remember there's a reason we find more 40%ers, and I'm not talking about a comparison of 1964 to 40% minted Kennedy's. It's what I call the 'ignorance effect' of people not understanding which coins contain silver. When a collector or coin hoarder dies, a spouse or siblings will often decide the fate of the coins. They usually know or read 'anything 1964 and older is silver'. So they dump all the 1965 and newer coins. So even though there were tons of 1964 minted, you still find a significantly larger number of 1965 - 1969.

Yeah I hear ya - 30 boxes of straight clad and all the time I'm thinking please let me just get 1 40%.

For the record, in case anyone was getting that idea from my post, I'm never disappointed when I find silver, no matter the percentage.
