Any ideas on this button or coin? The button appears to have some script lettering, It also has stars going around them. The coin looks like a Hibernia but it is the size of a modern penny.

The button is an 1808-through-1821 US Army Light Artillery First Regiment button. There are several variations of that version of US Artillery button. You did not show us its back, nor mention any lettering there, so I have to assume the back is blank. You also did not give any indication of the button's size. So, it could be either button AY-43-C or Cv-1 in the Alphaeus H. Albert book on American uniform buttons. Your button is believed to have been manufactured in either 1816 or 1818 by the firm of Leavenworth, Hayden, & Scovill in Waterbury CT.
