Greetings All !
Seems like when I spot a promising site, I can't resist scanning it even though I know theres more left at the last one.
I got a Silver pickle fork right on the surface, another .6 troy oz for the pile.
'USA Royal Danish International Sterling' I guess that makes sense :icon_scratch:
A 'Shun Chih' Chinese brass (I know you all love these) Shantung mint 1644-62.
Fairly intact sash buckle.
A small mystery Silver coin, 17mm, Can make out 'et Ind' obverse & a couple letters on the reverse, the reverse letters are incuse :dontknow:
I've compared it to 3,4, & 6 Pence from 19th & 20th Century, no match, any other countries use 'IND'? Help with this coin would be great :dontknow:
a couple old slugs, .50 cal X 1-5/16" & .31 Cal X 1/2"
Two one piece convex Eagle buttons.
A large patterned pewter Button,
& some other stuff.
dug over 20 pounds of varied brass & lead scraps, this site has a lot of potential :hello2:
Hoping for more tshirt weather like today!
Thanks for looking & HH to All

Re: This New Site is Target Dense

Hey Herbie. Kirk beat me to the ID. Spanish half reale. Keepon digging that site buddy.

Re: This New Site is Target Dense

What does it say above Worcester, Mass. I'm curious as to how old that is. Could it be Higgins Armory? ;D

Re: This New Site is Target Dense

Beautiful finds as always Herbie! :notworthy:
If what you said is true . . . "dug over 20 pounds of varied brass & lead scraps" and brass is currently at about $2.50 per/pound . . . that means you found about $50 in scrap brass today! :laughing7:

All kidding aside though buddy, these two pieces are my favourites! :icon_thumright:
Hey, you already found the pickle fork, maybe this is the top to the pickle cruet! :icon_scratch:

Cheers,
Dave

Re: This New Site is Target Dense

Nice finds. I'm thinking of hitting an 1800s cellar hole Saturday. It's supposed to be 38-42 degrees. Nice and toasty

Re: This New Site is Target Dense

Sweet finds! The snows keep coming here....a foot of dense wet snow on the ground again today!

I finally found SpanishSilver !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deep Seeker, The Worcester Pin says 'Bancroft' at the bottom,
I believe they also make Class Rings, the name sounds familiar.
It is the Higgins Museum, thanks for the tip!
a great link to the finds history

Constructed in 1930 by John Woodman Higgins to house his elaborate and eclectic collection of arms and armor, The Higgins Armory Museum opened to the public in 1931 in a sleek state-of-the-art glass and steel building. Today, artifacts are arranged gallantly in a spectacular two-story Medieval Great Hall arranged with more than 35 suits of armor and a stunning array of arms amidst tapestries, stained glass, and soaring ceilings.

Sure sounds like a great place to visit!

Hi Dave,
I thought you'd like those pieces, the brass is a great bonus, I brought last summers brass scrap to the recycle (4 - 5 gallon buckets), sheet, bar & round stock, plumbing fixtures, handles, doorknobs, rub rails, clock works, & thousands of various small pieces, walked away with almost $400 :hello2:
I need to be careful, what I thought was a boats rubrail was Id'ed as a complete musket buttplate (screw in place, leading me to believe the rest of it is out there somewhere, I've searched the area since, no luck so far, things move around in the mud over the centuries) I'm happy that didn't get recycled.
Thanks to Buckleboy and Nova Treasure for clueing me in
best digs to all & good day!!

I just viewed some half reales, some have the 'et ind' on obverse, some on reverse.
what is strange is how environmentals made the other sides letters incused.
pencil rub seems to show RO from 'Carolus'
Thanks Carlos
