Homestake, SD videos

I worked for a short time there in the early 1970's. I was on the 5550 ft. level below ground. It was a huge mine. You would take an open cage elevator with 30 men in it and drop a couple thousand feet at free fall speed and then get off and ride a train to an other part of the mine and get in another elevator and drop down some more, catch another train to where you were working. The only lights were at elevators and junctions. You had your light on your hard hat. Drill and blast and bar and muck at 80+ degrees, it was quite an experience. I left there to go work on the Alaska Pipeline, but still remember it vividly.
