Live ordinance always seem to put a damper on a nice day...
In S.C. I dug all kinds of live crapola at a closed Army base that part of had been turned into a large residential neighborhood...
The army base had been closed since 47... and was loaded to the brim with it.
I was using a Sov and Whites Tm 808 suitcase unit most of the time...
Every time in went for a scoop... I did a "slow foot push" instead of a kick...
When I saw it was a live piece... I would instantly drop unit and scoop and book it 50 yards roughly away and just stand there watching.
Nothing ever went.
But...
Several people had been killed over the years from various yard found items... hence my "services" of locating these items for folks for removal.
Nothing like cutting your lawn one day and you hear a loud rattle and out shoots a live pineapple... which also had happened.
A pile of I think 15 or so of em were found by a grounds crew one day just laying at the base of a tree...
Whats weird is they had been there for over 50 years... just exposed... yet never spotted till that day...
Instead of calling them in... they left em where they lay... minus the one that one of the crew took...
Going down the road he was in the rear of the work truck when it for an unknown reason went off... killing him.
After this...
People wanted there yards checked... and I had no problem getting permission after permission...
Deal was... I check the properties... and report anything dangerous...
And for this... I could keep any coins and stuff I found.
Was a beautiful thing for a few years...
But...
Never found the hidden bunker entrance with the hidden gold... artwork and diamonds along with the other rumored stash of war spoils that have been buried there.
Which was what we were really looking for ...
Hoping the entrance(s) were on one of these private properties.
