Homemade cannon??

I dug this piece at a Louisiana plantation last year. It looks like a blacksmith forged a cannon of some sorts. Any other guesses out there? Has anybody else found something similar. Thanks for your input.

I think it's actually a type of lever binder.

You have it upside down. If you flip it, the piece that's now on bottom would be the handle for pulling on what's hooked to the triangle piece. It's currently in the open position.

....Don't see it. Maybe a couple of other pictures angles. Would need two pivot points.

I can't find a match online, but it reminds me of an old time "alarm gun". They were made to be rigged to a door, or a gate, or even set on a tripwire and fired a shot to let you know someone or something was sneaking around. Search google images for alarm gun and you'll see a few.

....That's awesome(I had never seen one) but I don't see any mounting points remaining .

I just had someone else tell me the same thing. I'm going with "Alarm Gun".
