Homemade Cannon with multiple pictures

Not too sure about it being a cannon . It's having an open breech ( if it were a breech) suggests something else.

I still think it's an alarm gun, I can't find a match to it online, just a few that are similar. I put some arrows on your pic : black arrow looks like a hammer with a firing pin, red arrow would be pivot pin with a spring, and at the green would have been some sort of release like a pin or a ring that would attach to a string and let the hammer strike when pulled.


Here's a different one, same principle though :


It's just my feeling though and I can't confirm it 100%.

Yeah, I think that's what I would call it until someone came along and showed otherwise

Looks like a latch to me . Toggle latch or clamp.
