my son found this stone and thinks it may be something
the hole looks like it maybe man made
and i am not sure if small stones were used for jewery or not
any ideas
it is in fact a holi stone

Not a very pretty stone for jewelry. Not a very pretty hole either. I don't get the impression that the hole is man made. I have no idea what might have made it though.

Its an INDIAN WEATHER ROCK.......
You make a simple tripod from sticks and hang the rock from the top with a leather thong about six inches long. This you then set outside in a clear unobstructed area. Then several times a day you go out and "READ" the weather rock. Its read like this.......
1. If its wet on top.................................its raining.
2. If its warm to the touch.....................its sunny and clear.
3. If its white on top and cold............... its snowing.
4. If its swinging.....................................its windy.
5. If its hard to see rock.........................its foggy.
6. If its jumping up and down................your having an earthquake.
7. If its gone...........................................the coyote took it.
"INDIAN WEATHER ROCK"......never wrong.
