Got together with Sniffy for a brisk cellar hole hunt.
the oak tree is 400 plus years old and the largest in CT
not much at any of the sites we hit. Got a early colonial designed tombac button (pic of button is embedded in frozen clump) and a major colonial strap hinge spill! an early lamp base too.
was tough diggin in some spots.especially near cellar hole lips and trails. forget about it!

colonial out building hinges.maybe a barn or out house
 

check out what those hinges sell for on e-bay, i have seen them sell for over 100.0 per pair.

Great finds guys, love those early rat-tail hinges! :o
The electric lamp base looks to date to 1915 or 20.
Looks to have a split down one side . . . is it worth restoring? :icon_scratch:
They're pretty easy to restore too, I've done a lot of them.

Man, nice set of hinges with the pintles too! I have a stack of them, looking for a set good enough to use on a door in my house but I can't find a matched set!!

thanks and yes it has a split or crack in the base.
I don't know what to do with the lamp base?
it almost ended up in the trash. are you interested in it?
I keep some stuff i find.i can only hold onto so much or soon you may see me on that "HOARDERS" show :laughing7:
