gaw dang...that is one heckova sexy toss up...pool table bling OR pasties.

i pulled the shell outta the ground...heck, it very well could be buttons! I'm not discounting anything (obviously)...so i'm hoping to know what it's true purpose or intent be.... :)

I would doubt there is anyway to be sure what the cutouts were used for. Buttons, pool table or other fancy inlay.

Hey Vibes,

I lived in Prairie du Chien for ten years. There used to be a button factory in town. (Before I lived there.) The river bank mud gives up lots of shells with holes in them. Today plastic has replaced good old clamshell buttons. While fishing in the past, I've seen many shelling boats with their clams. One guy even showed me several freshwater pearls in a vial he collected during the season.
